Reverse needles will take your projects to the next level! The barbs on reverse needles work in an opposite manner to traditional felting needles. They pull fiber up through layers of wool rather than felting it down. This is helpful if you want to blend fibers or create a furry look. If you enjoy needle felting animals, the reverse needle will help you to pull bits of colored fiber to the surface of your work to enhance details. For example, think of the small specks of color you often see on a dog’s nose. The reverse needle can help you to capture these details by pulling colored fibers from a base layer up through a top layer. Or, perhaps you wish to add a soft fluffy section to the inner ear of a dog portrait. Reverse needs will pull fiber to the surface. Once the fiber is pulled to the surface you can leave it as is for a textured, hair-like effect, or you can felt it back down to preserve the blended colors but create a smooth surface.

The 40-gauge needle is a fine needle which is particularly useful when creating detail. The fine quality of the needle will help you to achieve the look you want without poking large holes in your work.
